Tree Guard
Tree Guards are
purposely designed to stop cattle browsing on young trees. Made from strong pickets which
are nailed to posts knocked into the ground. Near the base, gaps are filled to stop
entrance of rabbits, and to act as wind break. A strand of barbed wire will also further
deter cattle rubbing, this is not supplied. 26"/0.75m at bottom and
36"/1.05m at the top which is 5/1.5m above ground. Other sizes to order.
Foot
Bridge
Rail and sleeper methods
are used to build a Foot Bridge. Chosen whilst the tree stands, the wood will have natural
arch across the span. It is the diagonally tied and the sleeper style walk way placed.
Thick planks are riven and then axed to shape. This gives a strong non slip foot way, and
very long durability. They are strong enough to take a horse, and look it. I would like
the opportunity to build one with a Japanese tea ceremony house in the centre.
Rose
Arbour
Rose Arbours are made
from Trellised fence panels. The Rose Arbour is ideal for holding climbing plants and
placing over paths and entrances. Dimensions to allow a generous opening across a path to
avoid being snagged by roses. Nailed to four posts, the Rose Arbour is firmly anchored
woodwork is kept off the ground.
Porch
Arbour
Here is an example of a
Porch Arbour for a outdoor workshop. The roof of the arbour is water-proof and the side
panels act as a wind-brake.
Pergola
Pergolas offer an ideal
solution to shelter a path or as a walkway through a garden covered with climbing plants.
Garden
Bench
Comfortable
rustic bench that will fit well into any garden, park or picnic area.
Wood Storage
Border Edges
Made from half round
split logs wired together with galvanised wire. Edging for plant beds or lawns, these can
be stored rolled up, and are unaffected by years in the ground. These make
ideal edgings for organic beds segregating the bed from the paths,
the hardwood will not leach poisonous heavy metal toxins into the soil
like the tanalised softwood ones. They also make good protections
for specimen trees or fruit trees in lawns enabling mulch retention and
guarding against strimmer damage.
Lintels
Squared with an adze for an antique
appearance approximately 8" × 6" / 20 × 15cm, length
is to order. For more details and specifications please contact
us. Lintels can be made in oak or chestnut and are as strong as
concrete. They are the traditional material of older cottages
and buildings and will perform successfully for over a century.
Garden Steps
For
rough ground or terraces. These
steps have a riser of about 20cms/8", and are used where it is
necessary to help walkers up a steep slope.
They are made by nailing to half round riven timbers horizontally to two
stakes knocked into the ground. This process is often used by local
authorities on such walks as the Cornish coastal footpath. After the wood
is fixed into the ground the soil or a hardcore may be raked behind to
fill up. This helps stabilize the slope from
further erosion from wear, and acts as a brake on wash away erosion from
slower movement of water as it is caught by the terraces. The process is
very economic both for large and small scale projects, as it requires
relatively little labour to fix a path compared to other methods.
Using hardwood is the preferred option in environmentally sensitive areas.
